If your Apple Mac battery is not providing the necessary juice to keep you connected the problem could be a faulty battery.

According to www.apple.com: “Apple has recently discovered that some batteries used in its MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks may have battery performance issues. Apple is offering a software update that is designed to improve battery performance.”

The faulty batteries date from February 2006 to April 2007, so if you bought your machine in that time frame and your battery has ‘performance issues’ you could be in line for a battery upgrade.
But you need to diagnose the symptoms first from the list below.

Affected batteries will have one or more of the following symptoms [according to the Apple website]:

• Battery is not recognized causing an “X” to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.

• Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.

• Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.

• Battery pack is visibly deformed.

For the treatment program head off to:

South African Apple Mac users affected will have to deal with Apple’s representatives in SA.
