Apple Maps 3D cities (Johannesburg)

I don't know if there has been a discussion about this already, but It looks like there has been a roll out of 3D maps flyover for most of Johannesburg very recently (including the suburbs.) see images.

I discovered this on the weekend. For those who have been using Google Maps (like myself) I just randomly stumbled upon this checking if Apple Maps had gotten any better.

So far I'm really impressed. Especially with the higher detail of the refreshed satellite imagery. It looks like a lot of effort was put into modelling my house

As you can see, it's still a work in progress as the areas on the left here still have the lower resolution textures and no 3D love (East Rand including the airport.)

It totally does! I am aware that Durban, Cape Town and Pretoria all have 3D imagery too. I think Johannesburg was the last to get it.

Now wouldn't it be amazing if we could export these textures into playable models and have a local game of Sim City, and complete our cities with subways, and more glass skyscrapers.

Apple maps looks better I think. The views have more detail compared to google.
