Apple OS X Mavericks announced

Do we get Goose, Iceman or Jester as a wingman?

Surprised there was no mention of Siri coming to OS X. I thought that was a definite!

This article reminded me of something Mac users take for granted - Finder.
This is exactly what Microsoft were doing with Windows 8 "Search" that you use to get to your apps.

So Apple also feel the need to get their Desktop OS and their Tablet OS to work in the same way.....

Interesting how the OS's are basically following the same path.

Usually with a new operating system version, some Macs are left behind as their hardware simply can't keep up with the advancing software requirements. For example, all Macs powered by at least Intel Core 2 Duo processors were able to run OS X 10.7 Lion, but when Apple launched OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, some iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro and Mac Pro configurations with Core 2 Duo CPUs were no longer supported. It seems that with OS X 10.9 Mavericks, however, all Mountain Lion-capable computers will be able to take advantage of the upgrade cycle.

The history since around 2004 has been a three OS Cycle*. My mini shipped Panther, took Tiger and runs Leopard. Next mini shipped Leopard, went to Snow and now runs Lion (server edition). MBP 2010 shipped Snow, ran Lion and now runs Mountain Lion. So it should be at the end of its traditional* cycle. Seems like it will support next OS too.

*This has been an observation by users more than a policy at apple, AFAIK.
