The television?
I was making a joke.
Cook is crazy for saying this.
This morning:
Major retailers turn down Apple Pay
Now:
Apple Pay A SUCCESS!!
BlowJobs may be gone, but his [-]bull****[/-] reality distortion field lives on.
He said Visa and MasterCard officials have told Apple that the Apple Pay system is already seeing more use than similar “contactless” methods of paying for purchases.
For saying what?
That Apple Pay is a success. Remains to be seen.
Obviously it will not become the defacto standard. Its limited to a single device. But it wont die either. If anything it will force other vendors into getting NFC working on their devices. The effort has been pretty lame thus far. It just hasn't really taken off. Hopefully this is the shove that gets it moving.
Stores accept a variety of credit cards. Same will go for payment methods through smart phones or other devices. Stores will have to accept them all. Stupid business model to intentionally exclude your customers.
Yeah, it will be painful for all the Apple haters when they keep hearing that "Apple made it possible". Some people take this marketing spiel too seriously and it seems to threaten them so. Seems to be so important for some that the manufacturer of "their device" MUST at all costs be the only innovative one. Quote funny actually.
The irony is that the company that really helped the mobile phone take off, Nokia, is now gone. That's how it is. People should just get over it. Who knows, 20 years down the line, both Apple and Google(Android) might be minor players.
That Apple Pay is a success. Remains to be seen.
From the vendors' side do they have to do anything special to accommodate both Apple Pay and other NFC payment methods, or can they implement one system and it works for all? That would help tremendously.
One system, just requiring that Apple Pay be added as a provider. That most merchants are being mandated to upgrade their terminals to EMV enabled devices, due to the deadline set by MasterCard and Visa, has helped Apple Pay adoption rates IMO.
This.
I would imagine that they're measuing it against their early adoption metrics, which are probably looking very good. Reviews of it have been mostly positive. The only downside has been the public refusal by a handful of companies with a vested interest in a competing contactless payment solution which from what I read is far worse than Apple Pay and will probably fail.
This is the norm with contactless payment solutions- everybody wants to own it. It's why Google Wallet never took off (but may make a comeback soon, too).
Google will want a piece of this large pie as well and Samsung might throw in a competing product for good measure.
How many Android devices are out there that incorporate both NFC and fingerprint scanner? 3... Galaxy S5, Note 4 and the HTC One Max (at the back of the device)...
