Apple promises fix 'very soon' for Macs with failed encryption

Apple said it would issue a software update “very soon” to cut off the ability of spies and hackers to grab sensitive data from Mac computers.

The nature and timing of the bug could lend merit to conspiracy theories about someone creating it for the benefit of the NSA.

In reality this type of bug can easily be introduced with a simple copy/paste mistake. Yet the scope of this bug makes me a little concerned about the thoroughness of Apple's internal code testing, for example: negative testing would have caught this.

Testing yes; by code style I assume you mean pervasive use of curly braces? If so I doubt it'll make any difference -- negative testing is what's needed.

All the majors (Apple, Google, Microsoft, ...) make mistakes; an unfortunate side effect of the human element. Financial value and size provide no guarantee on code quality...

Really? How? This article is about the flaw that has yet to be fixed on OS X, not iOS. The iOS patch was released on Friday already, while the OS X fix only has a vague "soon" attached to it.
