Apple rejects Steam Link app for iOS

Apple has blocked Valve’s Steam Link app from being released on its App Store.

Steam Link allows users to stream gameplay from their PC and play on supported devices with minimal latency.

Apple = Big Brother

Ironic because their 1984 Advert campaign had them taking on IBM as if it was Big Brother.

The link could be changed anytime, which means users could get redirected to any site purporting to be it if a network is hacked etc? At least with an app, validation is done and I guess its static? #notaprogrammer #amidefendingApple ??

At the the time in 1984, Apple was also Big Brother. They scared the **** out of IBM.
I am not completely agreeing with Apple's review process of the App Store but it also helps to keep the App Store clean from malware, etc.

Google has released so many warnings for people to watch out for malware on the Google Play Store.

This does not mean that I am referring that the Steam Link App is malware. I'm just stating how Apple is helping to keep malware, etc. off their App Store.

The entire Apple ecosystem is closed up so tight that users have to deliberately and knowingly make sacrifices in terms of usability and accessibility going in.
But fortunately there are enough Apple fans around to keep the system going.

tiftfy and it's all FUD and scaremongering aswell since they make money from people buying their security apps.

I don't agree with your statement of sacrificing usability. When you look at games for example, Apple's Metal Kit is fantastic to develop games with. There is a reason why iPhone is voted and rated as the best mobile gaming platform.

In terms of productivity? Android wins hands down.

How so?

It did nothing but hamper me from getting **** done.

Also why is it that iPads have taken the entire tablet market if they weren't more productive?

It hampers me. Some reasons why: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/android-is-better-than-iphone,news-21296.html

A proper file system for one.

The vast majority of things listed in there have nothing to do with productivity.

Although the file system is nice I don't use my phone like a PC so I guess that's why I don't see that as a problem.

I used Google Drive before Files came out and pretty much still don't use Files even now that it's available to me.

****

I would argue though that a phone wouldn't be the device of choice to begin with if productivity is what you were looking for which is why I questioned the Apple vs Android productivity comment as they seem to be doing pretty damn well on the tablet side which is where I expect people to be productive.

My apologies, I didn't know that 24.6% is the entire market. Source

They are certainly the majority thou.

Sorry you are quite right I meant majority not the whole market.

But I believe less and less manufacturers are bothering with Android tablets going forwards anyway? In this field it's more an iPad vs Windows game is it not?

Android tablets and the like have saturated the education and training markets... And these markets are quite big.

I make use of multi window alot, although I think Apple has integrated that feature now.
Also, quick charge is a blessing. Apple has finally implemented this as well.

I thought that market belonged more to ChromeOS and Windows? Maybe we read different parts of the internet.

I do believe they have implemented it now. I'm yet to upgrade to an iPad that supports it.

Charging has never been a concern for me as I do it overnight, but I can understand the use case is different for people.

I'm sure I can dig up a source or 2.

But I'll use a local case. Famous Brands (Wimpy,Steers,Debonairs etc) make use of Android tablets in each store to handle training. At least in Wimpy's case.

Both are the same anyway since you can now run Android apps on ChromeOS and there's 2 in 1 type devices with touchscreen.

Okay, but who would want to stream to a device with a smaller screen?

Apple TV can run apps, can't it? Wonder if it supports controllers of any kind though.
You could also easily play games like civilization or Gwent on your tablet while lying in bed.

The Steam Link app was initially approved for iOS release on 7 May, but following the announcement, Apple revoked its approval for the app – citing business conflicts not originally realised by the original review team.

nice....
