Apple removes time remaining battery estimate for MacBook Pro

Nice, people like living on the edge.... "will i be able to finish my presentation before the battery dies... stay tuned to find out"
 
:D Apple is slipping. If Jobs was still alive this would have been spun into a feature before the media got hold of the story. I have no clue how, but perhaps that's why I'm not a billionaire.

The "percentage battery remaining" stays; the additional "estimated time remaining" gets removed.

Our understanding is the reason is due to how the latest low-power processors work when switching between various tasks. The inaccurate ‘time remaining’ predictions were unable to keep up with or provide accurate information for users on the newest machines

Features that rely on iCloud syncing in macOS Sierra ... These include features like Optimized Storage and Spotlight indexing, while other features like facial recognition in Photos can also put a ton of strain on battery when indexing large photo collections

I don’t normally do extensive battery life tests like this, but the complaints surrounding the 2016 MacBook Pro have been so loud that we felt compelled to give this a deeper look. What I found was battery life that falls well short of 10 hours in the iTunes movie playback test, even when using stringent conditions.

I’ve performed this test 3 times already. The first two times I got less than eight hours of battery, but I wasn’t as stringent as I was in the final test. In this final test I disabled all login items, like DropBox, Alfred and ScreenFlow, so this is arguably less of a “real world” test than my previous tests.

Most see only 8 hours max and not the claimed 10 hours battery life.
