Apple to announce a recall

okay....so they are going to hack the phone now...so instead of 3 bars it will show 1 lol
rather recall and fix it properly....
 
The consensus seems to be the iPhone 4’s innovative antenna-wrapped-around-the-case improves reception. Except when you use the phone in an area with marginal reception, aren’t using a case, and bridge the gap in the lower left-hand corner with your hand. In that situation, it can be deadly, and even then, only sometimes.

Here’s the thing, out the front of my home there is a vortex of Next G misery — every time I pull my car in front of my house for the past five years, Blackberry, Nokia, First three iPhones — the call was cut mercilessly. You could set your watch by it. Regardless of phone, on the best network in the world, my call dropped.

Enter the iPhone 4.

I can't see apple recalling the iPhone 4. Knowing Apple the will hold a conference just to show you how to correctly hold the iPhone :)
 
The venom of the haters is quite absurd frankly... why are you rubbing your little troll palms together at the thought of Apple screwing up?

What does it prove in terms of the long raging debate that Apple produces schit in your opinion?

...all it proves is how sad and empty your little troll world really is, sessly: get a life.
 
even with news that its broken you still cant get stock anywhere... surprising, isnt it ?

I would just buy it for that screen..... :). But it's a cr-ppy phone though. Hopefully SHARP releases a 2mp screen in similar form factor to counter the iPhone4 screen. Then I am like buying that locked Softbank phone so now..... :)
 
And now we know all fruit were created equal ... apples and blackberries are equally imperfect.
 
Apple has posted a video of the iPhone 4 press conference held today at its campus in Cupertino, California. The company has also posted several new pages on its website dedicated to explaining the antenna issue and showing off the company's antenna design and testing facilities.

Not strange looking at the FACTS posted yesterday:
Fact1- Refunds are 1.7% compared to 6.0% for 3GS, early shipments.
Fact2- Complaints about signal are only from 0.55% of users based on apple care data.
Fact3- The iPhone4 does drop more calls than the 3GS but only by less than 1 per 100, hence the free case.

Also that Bloomberg article was BS Steve said yesterday.
 
Exactly. There's no need for a recall. You can return your iPhone 4 for a free refund, with no restocking fee, if you're unhappy about it. Or sell it online at a profit thanks to the demand. The antenna is actually better than the previous iPhones, and most phones, particularly with a case, which are now free.

edit: to clarify, I think it IS more susceptible to signal loss than most other phones, but at the same time, in general, it does get better reception overall. Kind of a trade-off.

I see Nokia & RIM are really cheesed off that they got dragged into Apple's mess.

Here's the short and the sweet : The iPhone 4 has got a serious design flaw. It can only be fixed with a redesign....and most probably why Apple is hiring new antennae engineers.

I had to laugh when one journo told Steve Jobs that he can't reproduce the weak antennae signal on his Blackberry that Steve mentioned. Steve's answer : "It only happens in 'certain' areas." :D
 
Most people are very happy about the iPhone 4's reception. In fact the consensus is that it's a better antenna than previous iPhones, because it's external, but also more prone to signal drop than most phones (because it's external ;) ) Of course any skin or bumper mitigates this.

Of course. If you're getting great signal, a loss of 10dB or so won't even register as a dropped bar or whatever. But if you have weak signal it can make a big difference.

There is NO WAY Jobs will admit there's something wrong with it, especially seeing as I believe that it's being blown way out of proportion by the American media, a lot of whom are always eager to bring Apple down.

You should learn to sift through the PR bull that Steve Jobs dishes up and use your brain.

Just answer me this question.... if there is no reception problem with the iPhone 4, what the hell were Apple working on so frantically for the last 22 days....without eating or sleeping? The colors of the bumpers they gonna hand out to customers? Or maybe a funky design for a case?
