Hi all
Can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue...
Each time I start Netflix and open a series or movie Netflix is non responsive. Requires switching the tv and Apple TV off and on and then it works.
I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app
I’ve replaced the HDMI cable
Tv is a modern hisense 55inch, about 18 months old but no smart capability.
Is the Apple TV faulty or am I doing something wrong? It’s driving me crazy.
Tia

Every now and then it shows me an error which reads along the lines of
HDMI. Objection doesn’t support HDCP...

Are you connected via wifi or ethernet? Have you tried running it on another TV to see if the issue persists?

I’m connected via Wi-Fi
I’ll give another TV a shot
I think I’m using a standard HDMi cable and from what I’ve read I should be using a high speed or even ultra high speed cable - could this be the culprit?
Thanks for the input

Reseat the HDMI cable or try another one if you have it.

Thanks. I’ve now tried two and get the same result. Both are fine for playing movies via the Apple store but Netflix is buggy. Requires constant on and off resetting to make it work.

It's definitely some sort of HDMI handshake issue where it can't establish the content protection so Netflix doesn't want to play anything.

Have you tried a different port on your TV?

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I’ve only got two ports and I reversed them with the same result. Any point in a diagnostics session at Istore or should I spring for a faster HDMI cable In the hopes it resolves the problem?

Returning the Apple TV. Can’t get the dam thing to work properly and turning it on and off is an unacceptable work around.

I hope it is still under warranty, otherwise be prepared for Core Group to attempt to rape you. Maybe take your own lube with just in case?

Of all the Apple products I have ever owned my Apple TV is by far the worst. The remote just died (over R1,800.00 quote to replace at iStore!) and my wifi no longer works. If the Apple TV was the first product I had bought from them I would never have bought another.

Good luck with that.

Thanks. I’ll keep the supply of lube in mind I actually bought it from the ebucks store, planning to throw my weight around with them a bit to get it refunded.
