Apple tv bargain

I Love my Apple TV - best money ever spent....

I no longer have DSTV - i stream from my ATV through my internet - works like a bomb

I tried getting one a few minutes ago, from the ucount site, but it is not sending me an OTP :(

So an Apple TV is like a Roku right?

Which would be better though?

Similar. I prefer the Roku though.

I purchased an ATV3 when I already had 2 Roku devices so had a decent comparison base to work with.
Don't know about now, but no Plex. Big deal breaker. I figured I would live with it and see what else the ATV had to offer. After 2 or 3 days that cr@ppy remote started driving me nuts. I was too used to the directionless remote of the Roku. I sold the ATV and purchased another 2 Roku's. Never looked back.

Thanks for the input. Will source a decently priced Roku than :)

If you have an appleTV and an apple device then it is awesome, you can airplay mirror your iphone screen onto the TV to play games and browse the internet or stream from your PC to the TV using apps like air video... no need to format files to work with iTunes etc.

And then theres hulu and netflix which are the bread and butter of ATV.

Love mine.

You can use your phone/ipad as a wifi remote.

Why would I want to do that? So much more clunky compared to a simple remote that lives in the remotes drawer.
Can also control the Roku via phone/tablet. No need though.

Also, this would require every member of the family to own a specific brand of device to contol the ATV? Or to purchase an Apple device to leave in the same room as the ATV.
No thanks. Roku for me. No workarounds. Simply does the job.

I don't know... I was just commenting on the directionless aspect, I use a harmony to control everything.

Don't know about Roku. But an Apple TV is great if you have a house full of Apple gear: A Mac, an iPad or two and so on. They all work together easily.

If you try to use it with iTunes on a PC, probably not so easily.

Of course if your TV has HDMI ports to spare, nothing says you can't plug in both.

Elaborate?! i-Tunes is i-Tunes whether on a Windows PC or a Mac PC. Airplay on a mac-chine and airplay on a windows machine still = airplay!? I use both, so am keen to hear what the difference is... since the only difference between the two is the OS. Just curious...

Can anyone purchase from ucount or do we have to have a standard bank account ?
