So I have an Apple TV that was working perfectly. Purchased a new mac and did a migration form the old machine to the new.

Now the new machine refuses to see the Apple TV. EVERY other mac on the networks sees the apple tv..

1. have restored the apple TV and done the updates
2. Have reinstalled itunes and upgraded a couple times checking each version to see if it sees the apple tv. Nothing
3. Have created a new user account... still no apple TV.
4. File sharing is enabled.

iTunes does know that there is a Apple TV around as it comes up as an option to stream audio to (ala Airtunes)

I have also now started getting an error saying the DAAP authentication password was rejected... now we know that DAAP is:

(A DAAP server is a specialized HTTP server, which performs two functions. It sends a list of songs and it streams requested songs to clients. There are also provisions to notify the client of changes to the server.[1] Requests are sent to the server by the client in form of URLs and are responded to with data in application/x-dmap-tagged mime-type, which can be converted to XML by the client.[1] iTunes uses the ZeroConf (also known as Bonjour) service to announce and discover DAAP shares on a local subnet. The DAAP service utilizes TCP port 3689 by default.[3]
DAAP is one of two media sharing schemes that Apple has currently released. The other, Digital Photo Access Protocol (DPAP), is used by iPhoto for sharing images. They both rely on an underlying protocol, Digital Media Access Protocol (DMAP).)

...putting in passwords doesn't really help at all..

Any ideas???

okay... so here's the solution:

Parallels creates 2 weird connections in Network Preferences, I assume for OS's running under parallels can access location settings in leopard??

Anyways, it seems that these extra connections screw with iTunes' head and simply making these services inactive allows iTunes to see the Apple TV!

I'm guessing that windows in parallels is going to have an issue since it no longer has access to these service, will try sync the apple tv and then re-enable the services and see what happens..

The 2 "Weird" connections are actually normal in any VM environment.
Basically 3 Network interface cards are used 1 real, 2 virtual. Cant think off the top of my head why they have to do it but Google is your friend.
Using VM in Windows and Mac can sometimes create unexpected issues if the coders had too little time to resolve the issue's. They take the lowest common denominator (no VM) and run with it.
