Apple under pressure to pull "gay cure" application

Finally a thread about this...

It's hilarious to say the least. A gay-curing app??

Apple better hope it doesn't work, else who will buy their stuff? Amirite? :D

On a serious note though, it's stupid but I don't see how people can demand it be removed etc etc, since they are still within Apple's draconian terms. Why don't they just laugh and ignore it?
 
What self-respecting gay is going to use that app anyway?

Most I know don't want to be cured, and if they do, they can't really be gay.

Now, I must find some totally ridiculous, similar way of making money......

Well, it is most definitely going to cause some poor confused, repressed, oppressed, sexually frustrasted homosexual person(s) a lot of grief. It does more damage than good and can only lead to misery. Certain things you just cannot change, and some folks can't accept that. There's lots of gullible people out there, who's frustrated with the pressures exerted upon them from their communities to fit in and be "normal".

As such I think the app should most definitely be removed. You mess with someone's head and only bad things will happen.
 
I fully agree. I am a Christian myself, but I cannot stomach the brand of self righteous bigoted bull**** crap that calls itself Christian these days. It makes me sick....
 
As a gay guy I have long ago made peace with the fact that there will always those people who want to change us. So what, its their prerogative to do so. If they want an application on the App Store let them. Who knows how many gay and lesbian oriented apps there are already on there, and no one called for them to be taken down. Yes sure, this particular group may be known for their anti-homosexual sentiments, but their app does not blatantly advertise nor necessarily enforce it. I say just get over the issue and move along. The concept of Freedom Of Speech cannot be applied in moderation or when it only serves certain groups; its an absolute.
 
I wouldn't mind a gay cure in the form of some straight porn :D

It's not so much freedom of speech. That also has it's boundaries. You are free to speak your mind as long as you take responsibility for what you say, and what these people are preaching is illogical and wrong. They cause turmoil in the lives of certain people, and no amount of freedom, be it of speech or religion gives anyone the right to impune the lives of others.

I agree with what you are saying, however causing big stink about it is only going to add fuel to the fire. So it creates a vicious circle. Reality is that as long as there are religions with opposing viewpoints we will be having these kinds of challenges.

Yup, I've come to grips with that as well :) - though it doesn't mean that we have to put up with it. They're causing a stink by creating the app, so they should get rid of the stink by removing it. I do concede that it's not such a big deal however, for myself and those with thick skins.

The same company does not allow racist or anti-semitic apps on the store but allows this on it.

This has nothing to do with freedom of speech but T&C's.
Apple store prohibits racist or anti-semitic apps but allows this.
