I didn't realise so many people used the default Android browser. I prefer mobile browsers that have a decent landing page, like Next, Opera and Boat. Currently I'm using Next because it has the best tab management of any mobile browser ever, but scrolling has been a bit choppy of late so I might revert to Opera or Boat.

I use the default Android browser. I have tried most of the others before, but always find myself going back to stock. Perhaps I should give chrome a go again

I'm using Chrome now too, if only because it's predictions are fast, it uses google.co.za and the page rendering is very good. If it just had a decent landing page it would be epic.

I'm enjoying the new safari in iOS 7. Much more user friendly. Haven't used chrome much since it's arrival. The "tabs" are a vast improvement on the iPhone.

Considering Android phones accounted for 187 million units shipped in Q2 2013 versus 31 million for iOS phones, and given that android activated devices in circulation outstrip their iOS counterparts 5 fold or more, I'd say Apple is doing quite nicely, and that their users are engaged and using their mobile browsers significantly more to even be in the ballpark on these stats.

Interesting.

I suppose when you factor in all the bargain basement android phones with 2.8 or 3" screens and ultra low resolution screens it makes sense.

Those are more used for facebook updating and candy crush type games than internet browsing.

Modern, up to date Android devices.

Anything released since Autumn 2012 will have Chrome as the stock browser.
Care to share your source? AFAIK, Chrome became stock with 4.3 (almost northern autumn 2013).

I don't particularly like the chrome UI, much prefer Dolphin - the gestures are quite lekker.

I used to use Dolphin until the address bar stopped disappearing when you started scrolling. Was ridiculous. That was ages ago. I should check it out again.

Don't you have access to Google on your machine? ;)

But here you go

If speed is your holy grail, Chrome is your mobile browser. With Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google finally replaced the stock Android browser with its very own Chrome for Android (free). Chrome first hit Google Play as a beta app, but now

STOCK BROWSER
The default browser created by Google has been shipping as the standard browser on all Android devices running Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 and below.

Google made the change (northern) Fall 2012 (from 4.1).

I can watch Amazon Instant Video on the stock browser but not on Chrome (Android 4.1.2)

So I use both. Mainly Chrome for browsing.

If Chrome is stock then why does my S3 running 4.3 still have the old default browser?
