Apple watch Series 3 with Cellular

So I did see a thread had been created for this but I did not find a definitive answer.

Question: Will an Apple Watch series 3 with cellular work in South Africa if bought from the US?

I do understand that the LTE bands of the watch version must be supppoted by the network. With my little research done I did not see any reason it would not work as one of the bands, can't remember which one seemed to be supported by Vodacom. Please excuse me if I am wrong, my knowledge regarding network bands is 0.

Any help will be appreciated.

Technically the watch itself is compatible on our networks. But they can't activate the eSim.

I actually remember a tweet I think by Vodacom on the day the Series 3 was launched saying that they are ready for it and that it will be compatible on their network, so maybe ask them if they'll be able to program it for you.
Of course I could be mistaken, thinking about it now, I can't even remember the reason given for the Series 3 cellular not coming to SA.
