Apple Watch thread

Never had an Apple Watch and today I got my first, the latest SE (was on special at the iStore). Will take it through its paces …

My watch SE hasn’t been displaying the weather correctly since watchOS10. It’s only once had it the way it’s supposed to be. Similar with the heart rate app, I can no longer access the “graph”.

How it’s supposed to be:

Tap the cloud top right and change your view to conditions.

That image is “conditions”. I can tap to select different categories but you’re supposed to be able to cycle through by scrolling on the crown. As well as see summaries at the bottom.

Strange, mine has those. Maybe try a reset?

Is Ultra watch 1 still worth a punt at about R5k less than the 2? I'm mostly interested in the ECG function.

The difference is the brighter screen and the new CPU that offers no benefit over the old one.

Weird mine would usually only be at 60% at the end of the day.

Only time I take it off is when I go shower, and that’s when I charge it. Have dinner after bathing, and once done I put it back on. Rest of the day/night it’s on my wrist (handy for sleep tracking, too).

Worth noting I don’t use the AOD, just lift to wake. Never really pay attention to what the battery is at when I put it on charge, and last night was also an exception when I put it on charge earlier than usual so that I could do the update.

Masimo are a bunch of patent trolls. They clutched at straws and got a hit at one.

I hope Apple squashes them nicely when done :)

I'm not sure if anyone has experience transferring a Vodacom e-SIM from one Apple Watch with cellular to another. The process isn't well documented. It might be easier to transfer settings from an old watch to a new one via iCloud backup (I doubt the e-Sim will transfer using this method, but I stand to be corrected). I chose to set up my new watch as a new device, so these are the steps for anyone else if they need the info :

First, while your old watch is connected, open the Watch App and navigate to 'Mobile Service'. Log in using your Vodacom credentials. Then, deactivate your existing Vodacom One Number service. After receiving confirmation that the e-SIM is deactivated, switch to your new watch. Follow the same steps, but this time, activate the One Number service as you would during an initial setup. In my experience, the e-SIM started working almost immediately. This was despite an SMS suggesting a visit to a Vodacom store for RICA verification and the 'Mobile Service' status showing as 'Vodacom' and 'Waiting'. I went for a walk without my phone, using the e-SIM to stream music and it worked 100%.
