Apple working on stronger Lightning cable

Oh, so they're giving people chargers again now? Oh right, they're just beefing up the cable to justify NOT giving people chargers still. Thanks Captain Planet.

No doubt they'll rush you around R500 bucks for the privilege of a cable that lasts longer than 3 months.

Sugru makes any cable way stronger and it's fun to play with!

Really Apple. You make your MacBooks / iPad Pros Type C and yet your phones are still stuck on lightning?

Yup they'll charge double and only increase durability by 10% - typical apple

Maybe Apple should try making the from better quality materials. I still have the charging cable from my very first smartphone which was a Motorola Defy from 2012. I use it to connect devices to my PC.

It will be just as perfect as everything else Apple makes.
People will complain its expensive as they don't want to pay for quality.

The others will copy it, loosely, and make it cheaper. Those people will suddenly say "see! its cheaper" - Its the same old...

So these cables will most likely be a lot more expensive and probably still have issues.
I dont get how that problem has never happened with any 3rd party cables I have used.

The old spring from a pen trick will probably still be more effective than their new cables.

Are their current lightning cables perfect?

What?!?
You realize that the whole reason for this redesign is because their previous cables were very far from perfect?!
I have at least 5 original lightning cables that are wrecked because of the bad design, I have zero failed 3rd party cabled.

I have many of them all over the place, not one has failed. Are people chewing them or something?

No not at all, in an attempt to make them feel as premium as possible Apple used materials that weren't very durable. There have been many times that Apple chose form over function. The bufferfly keys on my 2019 MBP are testament to that fact.
Im honestly not sure if you are trolling or you think the previous cables were fine? The internet is full of complaints, hacks and bodges related to these cables.
Heck even Apple is admitting they sucked by developing this new cable.

I have lost exactly 0 cables to damage in my Apple life. Granted there was the work MacBook charger which I reinforced with a ballpoint pen spring and some tape after about two years but other than that, nothing serious.

I see Baseus makes a lightning cable that is L-shaped. Now that is useful, why Apple does do that nobody knows.

They're touching it wrong...
(1) Grasp the hard plastic jacket, and only the hard plastic jacket, when connecting and disconnecting the Lightning plug.
(2) Don’t strain or kink the cable.
