These features will be missing on Apple's cheaper Vision Pro headset

Apple plans to release a cheaper version of its Vision Pro augmented reality headset for those unwilling to pay the current version's $3,499 (R66,206.50, excl. VAT and duties) price tag.

However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that the cheaper headset will lack several features, such as the external screen and its custom M2 chip.

I suspect it will still cost quite a bit more than a Meta Quest 2 or 3. There is a place for this tech but I'm not sure the mainstream really wants it at the moment.
Quest 2 was very popular during Covid but that was probably because people had to isolate and still needed (virtual) interaction. People seem to have lost interest with it, even with the Quest 3 having been released recently. Hopefully if Apple MR \ VR catches public attention then all MR and VR content will get a boost and benefit from it in the near future.

The M2 chip is not custom but the R1 is. Who wrote this article? Stevie Wonder? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_silicon#Apple_R1
The Apple R1 was announced by Apple on June 5, 2023 at its Worldwide Developers Conference. It will be used in the Apple Vision Pro headset. The Apple R1 is dedicated to the real time processing of sensor inputs and delivering extremely low-latency images to the displays.

That was probably just because people were going out less and had more money to spend on luxury items. Socialising is expensive. Even Nike had a spike in sales that’s returned back to normal post pandemic.

The cheaper headset could cost between $1,000 (R18,921.55) and $2,000 (R37,843.10) less than the Vision Pro, with Apple having internally discussed pricing ranging from $1,500 (R28,382.33) to $2,500 (R47,303.88).
And here I was thinking it was still too expensive at $1000, before I got to the rest of the sentence
