I probably know the answer to this one but just wanted to check :erm:. First semester Unisa registration is open now but i missed the application date. Can i apply now whilst registration is open or do i have to wait for second semester?

Many Thanks

I am sure you can still apply but there will be extra charges applicable iirc.

You'ld be unhappy438 if you had applied.

Bad experience with Unisa? Dont think you can find an education system in South Africa where someone hasn't had a bad experience :( .

Are you just guessing or are you 100% sure, its not easy to get hold of anyone in particular at Unisa so im not sure how i should go about this.

Guessing 70%. Go to the campus and speak to an actual person not one of the piles of shlt they have pretending to be informed staff :)

Don't register with UNISA. Until they perfect telepathy as a means of communication, your reliant on a distance learning centre that has ceased to use the phone and doesn't respond to emails. I suspect the finance department may in fact be fictional.

Unisa is my only option, my sister and others i know have studied through Unisa and its been fine for them.

You've missed it. Applications closed on the 15th of September. You can apply for the second semester 26 March 2012 to 27 April 2012.

Ah, but that's just where you are making the mistake. UNISA dropped the ball just as of this year. They went from Reasonable to The Academic Institution of the Neanderthal (with the same peoples employed there) in the space of less than 1 year.

Regardless of the fact that their centralized telephone centre doesn't exist anymore ... even the direct phone number I had of them before fails to be answered. Their own bloody telephones at their own bloody desks are not answered anymore (Actually it is ... once out of every 10 attempts).

Doesn't that tell you something????

My sister started this year and has been fine. Im not disagreeing with you on the whole communication thing, they are nearly impossible to get a hold of. Thing is i need this degree and need to do it part time so what other options do i have?

Edit : As much as i appreciate others warning me about the possible dangers of joining Unisa, thats not why im here. I just need to find out if i can still apply.

I also no longer want to study via unisa... But can any one help with a alternative for distance learning?

You're going to have to get used to dealing with BEE, AA, unqualified workers and incompetence in the workplace so you may as well start learning at UNISA.

Has anyone given varsity college a try? I'm considering continuing my BCom there if they recognise my Unisa credits.
