Hi everyone

I sent parcel to my client using Aramex on the 8th of December. I dropped it off at my nearest pick n pay. On the 11th of December the tracking status updated to forwarded to delivery office. The parcel was to be sent to another province and the items were worth R900.

The parcel did not arrive within a week and hence i called Aramex and they said it would be delivered the next day. The parcel did not deliver and called again, with the same story. I then called several times more- I was told that a case has been opened once, and another time that the delivery office has the parcel. I sent several emails complaining as well only to be told that they will look into the matter. It has been almost a month and nothing has been done. At the call centre they say they are unable to put you through to management.

My client is very disappointed and my business has suffered reputational damage as a result of this. I

I really do not know where to go next, the customer service is appalling and no one at Aramex seems to be concerned that they have lost the parcel.

To date not one person has contacted me to even try and resolve the issue.

I will never use Aramex again and I also suggest that nobody should.

Please advise what the next best action would be or if there is anyone I could contact at Aramex who could sort out the issue.

Thank You

Complain on their Facebook page. I had a package due to be delivered on 27 Dec from Amazon. Each time I called their system was offline with no estimated RTO. Call centre was useless.

Complained on the Facebook page which I think is managed internationally and they had the item delivered 31 December.

weird. I have used aramex quite a bit and has been a very good experience. Not sure what happened your case. But the facebook idea seems good.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

Yes I did offer the customer a refund but they opted to receive the items again and will be sending them a voucher as well.

Later on Friday I did get a call from them promising delivery on Monday and also will follow through. (the first time they had actually contacted me , I do hope this actually happens else I will contact them on Facebook.

Does anyone have any idea what position the law takes on undelivered parcels?

I'd also like to know this, couriers have liability disclaimers but they can't lose your parcel and then just say too bad it's lost, check the T&C's. If they can provide proof of why it's lost, hijacked vehicle/criminal case of theft opened against staff member then fine but barring that they need to either deliver the parcel or pay out the value of the lost goods.

Also had an issue with Aramex via Postnet it would seem some branches of Postnet are using them?

Anyway, I bought something from someone here on MyBB... item never arrived and was as we could tell, sent to the totally wrong province where it disappeared. Obviously stolen.

In my mind it is totally ridiculous and unacceptable- you pay someone to deliver your goods and thy do not accept any liability if it goes missing- basically giving them the right to steal or loose your items- and get away with it.

Courier companies should be obliged legally to assume liability for missing items-

If a driver working for a company disappears with your goods- you can open a police case for theft right? Unless he was robbed, but then you can still open a case.

I am no lawyer, but I feel the law could be challenged- do not have full knowledge of the matter so open to any other thoughts or methods of thinking.

Aramex owns Postnet since a few years back

I would tell them give me a case number where you opened a criminal case due to the loss, either hijack or theft or pay me out the value of the loss.

If that doesn't work then small claims court if the loss is worth that effort.
