ARC Raiders

We played all evening. The last match we knocked 3 enemy squads - laboured to extraction with all the loot.
The game is pretty great so far

Enjoying it, haven't had a lot of time to play, only 8.4 hours so far and on level 8.

Only got into one 3 vs 3 squad battle during that time, they had the element of surprise and took two of us out and our third squad member then eliminated all three of them one by one. They were too focused on trying to finish the two of us in a downed state, I think that was their downfall. Why waste time on downed enemies (possibly to try loot) while the battle is still going on

Bought this on the weekend, solid game, hope it stays popular past this hype period.

You can go in with a plan but really anything can happen, have already had some pretty memorable moments.

Really enjoying the game.
Death Stranding mashup with Warzone DMC without the toxic extraction campers.

Been going in with the same plan for the last 7 rounds:
Get Mushrooms for the Cock.

"Life happens" every darn time, only got 2 shrooms to show for it but tons of other loot and battles.
We've had a really great time of it all weekend and I'm looking forward to much more.

This gave me a good chuckle.
Keep your head on a swivel and your wits on out there Raiders.

One thing I'm enjoying which I haven't seen in anything else is how you stay as a party with randoms, helps if you do find someone chatty who's quests are aligned with yours. Servers are pretty friendly too, have crossed paths with a few parties who just let us carry on without drama.

The last couple of days playing trios, having good squad mates and keeping our heads on a swivel has made all the difference, we're actually winning encounters now. But it's also so easy to get taken out if the other team catches you unawares when you let your guard down.

I'm 21 hours in, level 16 and I haven't really done any solo yet, I need to progress my quests more. Feels like I've barely scratched the surface of what this game has to offer. I'd rate it a good 8.5 or 9 out of 10.

interesting to hear about the leveling, i am about 10 hours in and lvl 20. Must get more xp in solo as i dont thimk i am very good at this game. Mostly playing free load outs running around trying to find a catbed for the chicken. I am finding people have become less hostile so are not shooting on site like there were last week which is a pleasant change.

Level30 now and playing mostly trios, some duos and here and a bit of solo.

Duos is by far the hardest situation and you're honestly pretty screwed against any aggressive, halfdecent 3man team.
3 guys takes down 1 with a single volley, then you only have 1 person to try pick him up and then the grenades start raining on your location and you're GG. With a trio you have one picking up when it's safe while the other can return fire in such a situation.

Solo, a fair amount of people don't want to risk the loot they have so if they hear you feel the same, then they'll be happy to accept a truce to extract in one piece. There's definitely still PVP though. Last night I had a guy dry-gulch me on Dam after I took down a Surveyor bot for the Vault item.
As soon as I started looting he sniped me, but I managed to get away. Ran quite a bit and parked in a bush.
Dry-gulcher came trotting by 2 minutes later, all smiles with my Vault items in his bag. Cut him down in his tracks and took my stuff back. Felt pretty good :)

Trio is max PVP ape mode. I've seen 2 groups in all my games that wanted peace.

I quite like the big difference in modes, but duos definitely need some love and just their own mode to make more viable.

Slower xp in a group also be the fact that my story quest completion is lacking. Only maybe every third or fourth raid we do is for my quest objectives. Likely also more faffing around in lobby planning for the next raid and seeing what the group wants to do, so hours spent in game has too much lobby time included.

true that makes more sense

We played Trios for almost 3 hours this evening but we got knocked out every time. Most of the time we were caught unawares, and half the time sniped from afar, it was always the other team striking first. Some of the battles we were quite close to coming out on top but mistakes such as one squad mate being on an unloaded weapon and trying to shoot the enemy next to him or me being on my recharger (and trying to shoot the enemy next to me) when about to deliver the tide turning blow resulted in an agonising defeat in two separate conflicts 🙈

On Spaceport we met three squads, two were friendly, the third squad pretended to be friendly, their front-man waited till his buddies were with him then launched a 'nade at us which crippled us from the start, and it only went downhill from there.

sniping on blue gate seems a bit hectic. People taking pot shots from all over the place when you run through the country side. 2 games i was knocked just from attrition of not having any more healing/shield items left and dying to random wasps after taking 4+ long shots from 2 or 3 randoms.

Dam and spaceport are far away my favorite maps. Buried city people go hard on PVP and blue gate feels too open.

Damn, that's harsh...
Ja last night we also had a number of losses - we got caught unaware most of the time and that's when you get banged up. Or jump out a window at Buried City and there's 2 blokes chilling right there against the wall with a shotgun... must've heard us shoot a Roomba and decided to wait for us at a likely exit.

I think the issue is one gets so relaxed just sniffing around for loot that you forget that an enemy team could be sneaking up on you. Another common issue is when the team splits up as you're searching for loot and one gets into trouble with ARC, or PVP initiated upon - you're cooked if you're not together.

Yes, it feels like "you're wasting time" when everyone just sits still and listens and waits a little bit, but by doing that every so often you can hear activities around you and be the one that creeps up on the other team.

Another thing is that I think other teams craft their best weapons and kit each time while we "save it for a special occasion" or something, instead of just using it. So you end up going with a cheap kit and face guys who crafted the scoped sniper, Renegade, Anvil and purchased a lvl3 shield, Fuze grenade, etc, then your chances are extremely slim.

@Conack yeah every one of your points are on the mark, we've reached similar conclusions.

As two of us were feeling a bit resource constrained and the areas we were going to were risky and dangerous we did a combo of free loadouts vs poverty spec, which just decreased our chances of success. And when on free loadout you feel more nonchalant because what do you have to lose so then you're less paranoid, but I suppose we are losing our time and increasing the likelihood we don't make it out with whatever loot was gathered.

My biggest issue with the game atm is that in squads the game is actually a PvEvPvPvP. The amount of third fourth and fifth partying is starting to get tiring. I swear this must be the extraction shooter with the most PvP.

We went to extract late last night, Loaded with loot. Last game of the night.

Took down a Bastion and got the Cells etc for the workbench upgrade and a lot of other goodies to finish another workbench and lightbulbs to finish my current project, including the BP for the WolfPack. Huge score.

5 mins left on the clock, heading to extract - there's another team there.
"Wait for it, let them go" I cautioned.

Unfortunately one of our trio went in fairly close to the extraction point to "see", even if between the bushes.
Another group arrives and it's a firefight between them, and in the chaos they stumble into him and suddenly it's a threesome happening. I should've stayed out and let him cook, but ja..

We lose everything 😛

Got the Wolfpack BP out though, which is huge.

Earlier the evening we were the ones that came out on top on Space station after 4 teams tangled and one team ran away.
Positioning was 1000% the key as they had no line of sight on us and had to push into our location - which they did, where our shotguns could blast them.

The PvPvPvP situations cause a lot of chaos, and in that chaos the coolest heads and most conservative team will most likely get away with the bounty - but you have to get good positioning / cover or rather carefully disengage if you can.

As the old Dutch saying goes:

"Twee honde veg om een been, die derde loop daarmee heen"

Re: PvPvPvP, yeah two nights ago when we got decimated strolling about on Blue Gate, it was one or two teams sniping us, one of them was right on us and then someone else sniping them.

I got hit twice by what I assume was a Ferro, first shot took my shields totally down and 20% health lost, I recharged but then the second shot (probably a headshot?) downed me then it went from bad to worse for us, our enemies had the high ground and we were fish in a barrel.

Blue Gate is basically a deathmatch server at this point.
