The female architect responsible for the new Al-Wakrah sports stadium design is 'really embarrassed' by critics who compared her plans to female genitalia.

According to Mail Online, Zaha Hadid hit back against claims her designs for the stadium resemble a woman's private parts, insisting they were inspired by an ancient dhow boat.

The stadium will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Iraqi-born Hadid also suggested the plans would not have faced the same criticism if they were designed by a man.

'It's really embarrassing they come up with nonsense stuff like this.

'What are they saying? Everything with a hole in it is a vagina? That's ridiculous,' she said.

She should decorate the interior with Georgia O'Keeffe flower paintings.

I have been looking at pictures of ancient dhows and it reminds me in no way of that, there is something else it reminds me of though...

Do arab descendant women's vagina's look different to other vaginas? If so I can understand the confusion. If not it looks a lot like a vagina.

EDIT: it doesn't get any less vaginarific on the inside either:

Same here does not call a boat to mind.

Someone should get a kleenex and wipe up all the little tadpoles around it, if that thing gets pregnant we are in serious trouble.

Given that it was an Arab designed structure, I had actually assumed it was designed by a man.

In all honesty if no-one said it looks like a vagina I would not have noticed.

With a stadium looking like that we might see a lot more getting one past the keeper :p

I'm sorry, but even if I had seen that stadium from the air without reading the article - my first response would have been 'Wow. Looks like a giant vagina.'

I get the idea that she says it symbolizes a ancient dhow - the opening is the dhow and then you see the ripples as it moves though the water. Maybe she should have added a small bulge to the one end to indicate the bow.

Oh...
wait. Bad idea  Looks even more like a vajayjay.

Hopefully sense will prevail, the World Cup will be moved to somewhere sensible and this ancient dhow boat will remain a drawing.
