Are Apple Macs overrated?

EDIT: soz bud, this is your thread, I had the distinct feeling of being baited into a "Macs rock/do not /do too" spiral.
The Mac is overrated in the sense that there is so much hype and lifestyle marketing surrounding it one looses sight of the fact that it is just another make of computer, nothing more; nothing less and that in many cases it has been shown to be inferior. It has also been shown to be superior in certain cases, dont get me wrong but one seldom sees a balanced reporting of these facts.

The venerable Steve would have us believe that using a Mac is the true measure of a persons integrity, that not using Mac is really just a manifestation of some sort of lack of self respect blah di blah ...the spiel is endless.

Just - a - computer ...get over it.

4 year old iBook still beats my 2 year old Compaq in many ways.

I think macs are a good value in the long run, if nothing else.
