Are PC monitiors HD?

Well, I've read that HD Gaming only starts at 1600x1200 so I guess we've been TV HD for a long time just not PC HD

traditional TV in our country outputs at 720x576 interlaced which is also a completely different tech to a monitor. hence when you use a TV card on your PC the TV image is always blurry.
A computer monitor utilizes square pixels while a traditional TV uses round or oval like 'pixels' and more then that the interlace technology.
Computers have always been HD or a higher definition then Traditional TV's.
Hence DVD's also look blurry on a computer monitor - download an HD quicktime trailer from apple and you will see HD in all it's glory.

As long as it's 1280x720 or over it's HD.
HD content is relatively new so up until the recent past there's been no media to actually show off the HD capabilities of LCD monitors.

To clarify the exact resolutions for HDTV:
HDTV 1080p = 1,920 x 1,080
HDTV 1080i = 1,920 x 1,080
HDTV 720p = 1,280 x 720
HDTV 1080p = 1,920 x 1,080
HDTV 1080i = 1,920 x 1,080
HDTV 720p = 1,280 x 720
HDTVs are usually big. You won't want a 17 inch HDTV in your living room now ne?
Since it's expensive to make 32 inch plus HD panels for HDTVs there are not too many around - that's starting to change as prices fall but anyhow. Some countries have had HD broadcasts for years - some channels in Japan were 1035i (over 10 years now) and subsequently some
channels in the US started going HD too. HD Digital VHS has also been around before HD-DVD/BD.
PC monitors still beat everything else in terms of total resolution however, at present it's 2560 by 1600 which is what my 30 inch Dell is running at
on my Mac Pro.
