I'm seriously considering getting a jacket with spikes. Maybe I should just wear some 4 inch, transparent pigeon spikes through my shirt, for the element of surprise.

I can't understand it. If you don't know whether someone is the 'touchy-feely' type or not, isn't it just a common courtesy to err in the side of NOT groping them?

*No offence to actual homosexuals - I know most of you okes have more tact than that.

In the OPs defense some people just don't like being touched

maybe his mommy didn't hold him enough when he was a baby :p (sorry I couldn't resist :D)
 
I am uncomfortable with people getting in my space, but if someone wants to give me a hug, or whatever, it's cool, it's a nice gesture from them one way or the other.
 
When it comes to strangers I am not very touchy either.....but you seem to take this up to the level of repulsion! If a a guy I dont know gives me a hug hello or good bye then I am deffinately not going to get freaked out by it. I have had two straight guys giving me a hug and peck kiss good buy. The first was when I went to visit another gay friend for a braai. He had another of his friends over and the friends wife. Very nice guy and we had a good time talking. When I got tired and got my stuff to leave he came over and I stuck out my hand getting ready for the whole "Was great to meet you" thing. He pushed my hand down, got his arms around my waist gave me a quick peck on the lips and a tight hug. It was non sexual but a nice friendly gesture. His wife came for her hug and peck kiss after him! :-)

Same thing happened when I was in London. Went with my ex to one of his girlfriends Bday party. Her boyfriend is a great guy and very friendly also. We stayed over the night and in the morning when we were about to leave they came out with us to the car. Again...I stuck out my hand but he wanted a hug and a peck kiss instead.

So...I think people need to chill when it comes to a little hug or whatever. Trust me...it aint gonna make you gay.

And OP......you do sound like you have a bad case of OCD. Just my non professional opinion.

Gotta say, i dont really hug, i dont like being hugged by anyone except my girlfriend.
I shake hands, and like to keep my space. Most likely because thats how my family is, we dont really hug each other or show physical affection.

As for hugging other guys, i see its common among "younger" people, my friends and all the people I know seem to shake hands instead

I completely understand.
I am not the huggy type. I prefer to shake hands...if I must and if we are introduced.
I am also not the type to talk to strangers in the gym's steamroom, sauna etc.

So when a guy asked me the other night whether I'm shy to talk to people as he has seen me at gym for months now.
I replied, no I'm not shy all. I just dont like talking to people in general, especially strangers.
I followed up with "Strangers are strangers for a reason."

I dont like strangers...I prefer to keep it that way...unless you're hot!
