Are SSDs worth it?

I used to do the registry mod story, and came across the site when I was looking at setting up the SSD properly. Does make life easier...

Just discovered that the Vertex 3 has a new firmware out, but updating wipes the HDD and from comments on the Ocz forum, it seems that they recommend a full reinstall of windows and not an image restore. Just got all the programs back the way I want them..........Think I'll give the firmware a miss..

Sucks hey... My vertex 4 needs a firmware update, as the newer firmware has HUGE performance improvements according to benchmarks... problem though is it's a destructive firmware update... and I have 2 OS's on that SSD :wtf:

Only destructive if your current firmware is pre 1.4.

I got my Vertex 4 a few weeks ago.... what will it be on?

I've reduced my booting times to 8 seconds for a startup and 5 seconds for a shutdown.... and programs are lightning fast. Loving this ssd.

On windows you can go to device properties, and check the hardware ID's. Not sure about linux...
