Are there ADSL Problems in Eldoraigne ?

I signed up for my ADSL 4 mbps service in june and i have been getting full speed till the beginning of August, now at the first hop of a tracert the ping jumps to 100 ms and I only get about 1mbps of throughput, I did try with another ISP and ADSL modem resets but the same results are produced. I did check the ADSL modem for the sync speed and it is syncing at 4096 / 507 kbps with an attainable rate of 9864/1052 kbps. I tried another modem and its still the same. Do you guys think is an exchange problem ?

if it syncs at 507 , it could mean you have 10mps exchange mine use to sync 4096/512 when the exchange got upgraded it sync at 4095/507.

so maybe they are working on exchange.

I can confirm issues in Eldoraigne. I'm on the 012-653 exchange and ping times are horrible, as is throughput regardless of the ISP I use (Telkom or IS). I can also confirm that the same is true for our business DSL in the Lyttelton Manor area (012-667 exchange). Ping times to the 2nd hop is 170ms and throughput is terrible.

just got off the phone from telkom and they did say that there is a fault at the exchange and that they are working at it, the lady also confirmed that the exchange is planned for a 10mbps service upgrade

I think there's a problem affecting certain areas in Centurion

E.g. my second hop = 7ms, third hop = 150 ms.

Did a tracert from work (IS Microwave link) to my adsl's current ip and look:

11 12 ms 11 ms 12 ms 196.43.25.137
12 152 ms 155 ms 162 ms tvwt-ip-esr-2-pos-8-0-0.telkom-ipnet.co.za [196.43.24.238]

EDIT:

Give 10215 a call and check if you can set your sync profile to 10MEG (you are most certainly sync'ing using ADSL2+)

my modem does report ADSL 2 + , Has anybody done that before , the requesting of 10mbps service even tho the adsl checker says the exchange is 4096 kbps max

Most of centurion is being upgraded to 10mb. Users are being moved over in batches\dslams at a time
