Are these line stats any good for 4meg+

Hi guys,

I am currently upgrading my line from 512 to a 4meg connection, could you gurus out there please give me your thoughts on my line stats and what they might mean for potential connection speeds?

Modulation: ADSL2 PLUS

SNR Margin: Down26.2 - Up 12.0db

Line Attenuation: Down45.0 - Up28.5 db

Data Rate: Down512 - Up255 kbps

Your SNR margins are fine. Your line attenuation is a bit high at 45dB, but you should have no problem getting 4Mbps. (10Mbps would be impossible, probably due to your distance from the exchange.)

That would mean he need to force his modem to use G.DMT modulation instead of ADSL2+ to be accurate to that graph, but in general G.DMT is more stable than ADSL2+ anyways.

Usually the SNR margin will drop at about 3dB for each 1Mbps increase in downstream bandwidth.
So you'll have like 14dB SNR margin at 4Mbps, which is more than enough for a stable 4Mbps connection, however I would not recommend going over 5Mbps with those SNR & line attenuation values, because then you will get disconnects.

Fayera: that is fairly good. You shouldn't have issues with that low line attenuation and high SNR margin.
