I really fail to see what the actual issue is here. Your CPU will be perfectly happy at running around 50C.
I would recommend getting the latest versions of your monitoring tools. Especially Core Temp, it doesn't even show your individual core tems? These are what you should be looking at, not your package temp.

There are a couple things to keep in mind:
Metro is an extremely demanding game. It could be using more of a single core, driving your temperature up.
Your other games could have their load spread more and are less demanding on the CPU.
Your cores not being covered correctly by heatsink or thermal paste leading to a hot spot. Would be more exaggerated if this core saw high usage. Orientation of Heat spread is different between Intel and AMD of course, one being horizontal across the CPU, the other being vertical. So if your heatpipes run the wrong direction across your CPU you could see a hot spot.

At the end of the day these are just possible scenarios, and if it really does worry you. Maybe try reapplying thermal paste and reseating your heatsink or just going water cooling :p

i just came here to check with someone who knows better then me if i should be worried or not, not having a debate over my room temperature.. also when i try to get core temp 1.0 chrome flags it as malware and doesnt let me download it

Just downloaded it no issues.. Prob some extension of your anti-virus blocking it. Surely you can ignore it and download anyways.

As for the room temperature, it could point to you having software thats old and not correctly monitoring new hardware. Ands that why people probably pointed it out. Even with water during mid winter, I don't get much lower than 15C. But my room does stay relatively warm.

Your room temperature is applicable as the cpu will never run at a lower temp than your ambient room temp, so if your room temp is not lower than 11C then there is no way for your cpu to idle at 11C unless you are using some really exotic cooling which you are not.

My laptop runs at about 100degrees playing DOTA2. Nothing has melted yet...

11-15 degrees idle in summer ... like many said is not possible.

Check in your BIOS what temp it's running. (my bet is the mobo does not pick up the cpu temps that well, may need a firmware upgrade if available)

HWMonitor is sometimes confused. According to it my SSD is currently running at 128 degrees ... hehehe.

HWMonitor showed one of my cores was running at over 2000C.
I deleted it and moved on.

My Bios shows it at about 30 - 35C Idle

core temp shows the same temps as HWmonitor, also it is pretty cold atm.. its summer but here in centurion its been raining alot and its not very warm im freezing here in my room...

but thats not what im here for... i want to know if its perfectly normal for a CPU to go from 15 to 50 when its playing a game.. for the sake of people complaining about my room temperature lets say 25 to 60... thats all i want to know is that normal.. should i be worried or not?

My AMD runs easily to 65c when playing a mild game and I'm running an aftermarket CPU fan. So your temps are fine according to your temp monitors. Trust me your CPU will shut down instantly if you reach temps that it deems to be harmful. ( if it does do that once, maybe then get worried )

To answer your immediate question, yes it's perfectly normal to see a jump like that.

Nonsense, thermal throttling only kicks in at 95C

I would consider 80 the max.

I personally take it according to a combination of chip architecture and production process. With Ivy and Sandy Bridge I'd stick at 85% as max safe temperature while under Haswell I'd consider 75 C to be my personal limit, even though Intel has validated it to higher temps. With AMD's transition to a smaller core arrangement I'd consider 70 C to be the safe limit especially where the APUs are concerned.

Well then we're pretty close in hardware terms. I'll run some tests tomorrow to check but I would also recommend disabling advanced physics in the Options > Game menu, that caused a lot of stuttering and temperature spikes.

Otherwise, LL is a well-threaded game just like Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4. WoW and Diablo don't typically tax more than two cores while Thief doesn't scale very well on AMD chips and doesn't tax them that much (hence the need for Mantle).

And for future use, always take the readings that temperature monitoring programs give you and add them to your ambient temperature. This is why I have a thermometer in the room near me.

ok thanks thats all i wanted to know, cause my own CPU which was an AMD athlon II x3 455 usually was around 25 degrees idle and 30-40 when running something so was just abit worried when i saw my new cpu over 50
