.OP, what are the temps though. I suggest you take a proper screen shot, and let us decide if it's too hot... and a rule of thumb is that if the plastic cover is melting, then it's safe to say you're laptop is over heating
. Further more, if the laptop is freezing then usual culprits are: RAM, overheating, Windows (if you've had the install for a while, then windows might have a few stuffed up programs on it) or Viruses. However, putting ice on the laptop will also cause it to freeze but not for obvious reasons.
