Are Xbox PC controllers just plug in and play? (wired)

I for one cant use a XB controller, it just feels messed up.

Because those buttons arranged on the pad are all confusing?

I was brought up on a PlayStation, so in a way, yes.

I'm still not understanding.
I come from Nintendo, Dreamcast, ps1, etc.
Even pc controllers are the same.
It may look different but when you push shoot it shoots and when you push punch it punches.
Do you have T-rex hands or something?

The fact that they swapped the Dpad and the Analogue stick put me way off.

The problem for me is when the game says press X. I know the PS X, not 360 X.
