You get hoarders keeping any s**t they get their dirty hands on. Then you get collectors that buy and stack up on things related to their hobby. If 'hoarders' you are referring to include collectors, then yes I do. Do I keep anything I get my hands on? No, most things gets tossed out.

Are you a hoarder? Or do you prefer to get rid of things as soon as you no longer use them?
My Boss says i am.....right up until he needs something i should have thrown out! Then i am the king again :)

I'm not tidy, but i'm not a hoarder.

Every so many months i have enough and do a major spring cleaning and just throw stuff out left right and center...

I am a minimalist. I like to know exactly what I own and what I need. I like to save every cent possible, while spending lavishly on a few quality items. I like thinking I can pack all of my life into my backpack and relocate to Japan or New Zealand at a moment’s notice. I like knowing that I am free of the mental overload of managing inessential stuff. I just have too many books and video games. But that’s fine.

Then I come here and you guys make me buy AirFryers and pasta makers and different colour Xbox controllers and make me want new television sets and digital islands and all sorts of crap that doesn’t matter.
There is no such thing as 'too many books' :sneaky:

What is hoarding and what is not essential? For instance if you insist on being minimalist so you can relocate in a few minutes then that severely restricts your hobby options. If you throw out everything, then you end up wasting money whenever you do need something.

Again, living with a hoarder, that is BS. When you need something, you cannot find it between all the other stuff you hoarding and then you buy anyway

Hoarding would be not throwing away any of your kids clothing, school books, etc
Even though they're married and in their 40s

This is my MIL

Your mother in law is only in her 40s?
Did she have children in her early teens
