Like when Europeans went to other countries and lived in tight-knit groups bringing their religions and customs with them?
Exactly.... Japan don't want / need that.

Australia and the US certainly wouldn't have a leg to stand on expecting people not to bring their culture with them.
That's the irony isn't it..
If a western culture were to be strict on culture, they'd be called racist.
If a non western country asks you to FIFO (fit in or f off) it's their right to do so.

Not against either, just interesting observation.

Most of the comments on here I've seen are married people with kids which I'm guessing means 30+ years old. I'm 25, single, living with parents, mid level software engineer and hoping to emigrate to UK/Germany/NL or Ireland next year. Are there any younger people on this forum looking to emigrate (like in their 20s) ? Most people that I know who are around my age and are STEM graduates all want to gtfo

I'm graduating from uni soon, so I'm looking at all my options currently. Still not sure if I wanna leave of not.

not going anywhere, but would go to Namibia as first stop if hell really breaks out that I can't handle.
my family has emigrated already except for my dad, so would stick with him while we re-enact mad max :p

79 people are not going anywhere, im assuming they only have South African passports
I personally voted to leave but if i look at my parents, both are retired and especially my dad said chances of him leaving are basically 0, his money will become worth not much, he won't be able to really get a job and will have to live in a small apartment so no use in leaving..

Fair reasoning sir. I also held back because parents would not be able to join, sadly they passed and I eventually took the dive.

My parents are retired, but I'm pretty sure my mom would like to get out. If the excrement hits the rotating assembly, they can get on a plane tomorrow - we have a guest floor :D

My mom would go live in the Netherlands where my aunt and uncle are, my aunt and mom have been best friends since they were small and married brothers, my dad doesn't feel the same way.

I personally am looking into going to the Netherlands

Those numbers are scary. 10% already left, 50% looking to leave and only 30% going to hold down the fort.
The scary thing is all the skilled workers and youth are leaving the country and in like 20 years time you going to have very few skilled workers...

So you have us older folk who have memories of SA pre-loadshedding and kids who have grown up knowing nothing but power cuts, the youngsters are keen to experience consistent basic services

Kid you not, I tried to explain to my youngest that there is no load shedding here. She raised an eyebrow and proceeded to interrogate me as if I was not telling the truth. Its all they have known their entire life.

If you remember mnet open time, renting VHS then dvds at videospot, KTV on a Saturday, or my personal favorite Star trek next generation on TV 3 or even DBZ/Pokémon on TV at 4:30.... You're old as sin

Lol try the sabc test pattern before programming started at like 3pm, and closing with a prayer and the national anthem at 10 or 11.
