Are you coping financially?

I have no doubt in my mind that if I'd been there still, I'd be out on my arse. Looking at who the employer was, who the landlord was, no doubt. I look at how my sis was struggling just before she left (right before covid) and I shudder. Am more than comfortable now and more important, so is my fam.

Feel for my friends still stuck there
 
Its tough financially, however covid actually helped me out, I was only getting covid ters from april till october and during that time i had intense stress because i had to use my credit card to cover some expenses, i eventually maxed out my credit card at the end of november, Luckily in December i found another job that paid double what my previous job was paying, in the past 3 months i have managed to pay off all my other debt and half of my credit card debt, i should be done paying off the credit card in another 3 months so i feel much better now. I do still have financial PTSD though.
 
Finances are a mess such that maintenance on cars i do it myself.

Some work around the house i also do it myself and now that my father in law passed away in January 2021 due to Covid.

I need to assist were i can with rates & taxes plus food.

Just came back from the shops to buy some groceries and didn't buy many things as finances are rough.

I took a risk last year in December 2020 thinking that it would pay off but it has not and it stressing.

Wife's salary has been cut which means i have to stretch my salary a lot.
At least i have been working from home since Lockdown started but transport money has gone elsewhere.

I manage to get half a sleep every night knowing that all my debts are paid, but no extra change to spare.
 
Yeah still fine - fortunate enough to be in a role that is +- immune to short term issues like COVID and to some extent even benefiting (no commute cost)

More concerned about long term though. Salaries vs cost of owning a home is completely fk'd in London even if you are earning well and the prospect of renting later in life doesn't appeal

This pretty much sums up where I am.
International company so meetings can start anywhere from around 5am when the Aussies are working up to midnight when the American/Canadian crew are busy.
In the last two weeks I have had nothing more than 30 mins per day that wasnt in meetings, so its pretty much a full day of meetings and then start actual work in the evenings.

I know many people would take that over financial struggles right now, but the burnout is getting serious and Im starting to crack.

The saddest part is that I have been permanent WFH for a few years, it was just when the rest of the company got stuck at home that things got out of hand.
 
I'm better off I would say. What I lacked in decent increases and a so-so bonus (at least I got something), investments grew nicely and made up for it.

But I work hard on being net positive every end of the month. Even with our current plans costing us a bucket load I've stretched those coats out over months.

Bro, taking the two chihuahuas with. All in all (vet, tickets, relocation company) it's R50k just for them.

Had to reduce quality of grocery items... Where once I could buy the good brands now no-name brand will have to do. Chicken has replaced lamb on the braai. Jive has replaced Coke. Etc

Yes me too no salary increase since I came to the new job, 3 years ago. So yes this month I don't have anything left a few debit orders not paid.
