If they aren't voting at all - they're not contributing to replacing their abuser.
If they are voting for the ANC - they're supporting their abuser.

At least some of the poorer areas have started turning to the opposition which should be an example to the poor. They don't have to tie themselves to someone for a pittance with a side order of negligence in exchange for their vote.

I never said they are not voting, some do some don't, but have you seen all those comments on this forum when there is a protest somewhere? all those "yet they still continue voting ANC comments"?

It's like when you see black people protesting it's a foregone conclusion that they voted ANC, just look at them and automatically tell that they want everything for free, they voted ANC etc, why such comments about someone you've never met before?

It is such utterances that are so devisive, yet people on this forum are so quick to point a finger at others accusing them at dividing us across racial lines while they themselves are guilty of the same thing?

You are right, this is the mindset/trap that people have fallen into and it needs to stop. I challenge anyone who still has this mindset to attend the next big protest and see for yourself, I promise that if you pay attention you will emerge with a changed more positive outlook on the entire situation.

The ANC do feed/manipulate this narrative though by having trolls on news sites turn every discussion into a racial matter/fight, ultimately the blame lies with all of us though not just the ANC.

Definitely. The unity and friendship that were on display was great to see. It should always be like this, and can always be like this, but unfortunately so many negative people around at the moment.

what if these constant protests turn into a civil war? The government decides to crack down using force and we have something like Syria on our hands?

Well then they choose it to be so, not the protesters. But I doubt it. And why be so negative? The government fears the protesters, effectively warning state employees not to join the march, the whole legal not legal debacle, boarding up Luthuli house with car guards in uniform. So in short stop fearing the government and start to be active to have your voice heard, they fear us.

I fear the lawlessness more than I fear government. I don't think it will happen though... unless some foreign entity (say Guptas for eg.) see a war as something they can benefit from (hugely) and begin arming factions.

Well then we are already a dictatorship in that case, and at least it will be out in the open for the world to see.
The alternative of doing nothing and allowing such a dictatorship to continue unopposed seems worse?

What I am saying, is if you really want to study, that is something you will do regardless of whether you attend University or not. There are employers looking for individuals with this character trait, where they study themselves, whether they get a certification or not. Those individuals, if employers can find them, are the ones that will get jobs, and even money to study part time while working.

At 44 I still learn after being blissfully put through 2 degrees by my family. On two separate continents (not Africa where I pay my taxes)
However, I still want to learn, just takes enough bandwidth that I assume (never joined up) that a facebook account would take.

register, pick your course of interest, erm, start learning. This old fart is doing it...
