A taxi was overtaking illegally on the left in the yellow lane and hit a curb and bounced into my daughters car, ripping a huge hole in her back door with his bumper.

He doesn't have insurance, and not sure if his license was even genuine and he only had one number plate on the back and who know if that was genuine or not. - he did show it to her but drove off before she could call police or anyone.
My daughter has insurance, so I assume she is stuffed and will just have to pay the excess and leave it at that as there is about 0% chance the police or anyone will track this guy down and even if they did, then what?

Sigh, car is only a damn month old and I even purchased her a dash cam which she didn't bother to fit

Most likely you will have to pay the excess. You can try claim from the RAF, but that can take years.

Why will you be stuffed though? She has insurance and they should pay as it wasn't her fault.

You'll never get the excess out of a taxi driver or operator. Schit luck there...

stuffed as in losing the excess of R3500

Claims history
No claims bonus
Loss of excess
New car is now an accident vehicle

Claim from Royal Air Force :) Bad luck for her there. The best will be to pay the excess and take the knock. Then next time she should not let them drive off before the cops arrive. I know it is difficult as she is a woman, but she must try and keep them there. Might still not have paid though, you know SA.

Good luck with that. RAF is bankrupt. There is no money to pay out.
Stuffed yes, but only in terms of having to pay the excess.

What car is it? And how would the dashcam have helped if he hit her from behind?

Dashcam could've gotten some details of the vehicle as it shoved off.
Also there are rear facing cams - with that she would've at least had access to the front facing number plate of the d00s that drove into her.

Unlucky OP - excess and be on your way.
Make sure they fix it up like new! Kark one...

Had accident with a Taxi already.. they won't pay. You will have to cover the excess. This is why insurance is not so much a luxury because without it thats a huge cost.

In theory if you can prove that it was the other party's fault and they are deemed guilty even without recovering money from them, then to shouldn't affect your claims history or your premium.

But it's a very big in theory and the excess buggers of either way.

Unfortunately not the case, you had an accident you claimed from them, therefore all of the above is gone. Had a run in with an uninsured driver, was all his fault. Fat out of luck with everything :-(

My last bike accident was not deemed as a claim against my history when I applied for subsequent insurance because it was the other party's fault even though they didn't reclaim the money from them.

My premium also never went up after the accident was settled.

But it's very circumstantial. If there even a small degree of fault on your part then there's no luck I'm afraid.

No claims bonus and that kind of bull**** is a different story. But then you shouldn't fall for that stuff in the first place.
