Arena

Struggling to find a good team atm - lost mine due to their annoyance with my constant disconnects. Now I play late at night when my connection is stable but not too many people enjoying doing arenas from 22:30-00:30 :/

Strange, I thought this was during the prime time for arenas.

Finally got a nice 3v3 going...1.1k rating as of last night:p
This is with about a 50% win ratio lol, still some team tactics we need to work on but it looks promising.

I've always done arenas mainly since Season 2 (back in the TBC days).

I managed to get 2328 3v3 with a rogue and a mage in S2, it was really hard because I had constant modem problems and they did get annoyed due to me disconnecting and that was a loss (I dc'd about once every 15ish games).

Also constant lag of 700ms-1000ms almost ruined it for me.... I couldn't log on on the last day because my modem was totally messed but luckily I managed to get on at about 11 PM and we just went from 2100 - 2328 in 2 hours - insane times because it made our team the only Gladiator team on our server that season.

The bottom line is that even if you lag you can be just as good as others with 50 ms, even those 'famous' wow players. Just learn to use lag to your advantage, use /stopcasting macros for all your spells, use quartz so you can see how quickly you can start casting the next spell (even if you're still casting the first). But really, get good partners, who can communicate really well over vent and know their classes.

Currently in this season I just got back so really undergeared but hit 2k with a feral (feral/disc) in 2v2 (it's really easy - ferals are pretty imbalanced) and also 2k in 3v3 with a rogue and mage hopefully go for Glad again!

Played about 8 or 9 games last night and won maybe 2 yet we gained 15 rating for the night. Kept getting owned by teams about 200rating higher than ourselves:S

So at which 3v3/5v5 rating is everyone ending at this Season?

I peaked at around 2058 rating playing Rogue/Feral/Priest, but dropped about 100~ points in the last week. Sitting at 1900~ rating now. :(

Would also like to hear opinions about low latency in arena, I'm starting to feel that if I had lower latency I might be able to play better and get to higher ratings?

Naw. I don't get the appeal of arena. You've got this massively multiplayer online game that you're paying a subscription for.... and then you distill it down to a simplified Guild Wars type experience.

WoW PVP will to me always be a well played Arathi Basin or Alterac Valley, perhaps even Warsong Gulch. No to arena (it, removes the massive scale, the epic clashes, the war from Warcraft...so what's the point?), and no to SotA/IoQ(removing the intricacy of playing your class and replacing it with 2 buttons in a vehicle, no thanks).

True SotA and IoQ is rubbish.

I personally feel that in AB/AV/WSG there is less focus on how well you play as an individual/class, but more focus on how well you can zerg/defend without having to worry about staying alive as you can just respawn /continue zerg.

I started out doing Arena for laughs in S2 to try and get the pvp gear(offhand sword was good for combat back then), which never really happened, but it carried over from season to season.
I got better at playing my class, which in the end helped me a lot in the raiding aspect as well.

I do raid end-content as well, which I thoroughly enjoy, I doubt I would have still been playing if I was only doing PvP/Arena...

Read an interview with some Blizzard person who said that he felt Arena's where a mistake. Cant remember where I read this.

I have never done Arena. Spent 15 minutes on Guild Wars and that did was cause me to miss Barrens Chat.

Read this as well - basically Ghostcrawler said they didn't design it properly.

I didn't do arena this season as last season was painful enough (I managed about 1900 with high latency and many, many disconnects) and I wasn't prepared to go through it again.

Well done to people in South Africa that manage 2K+ with these crappy connections - I was only able to achieve that in the UK with an average 50ms latency.

2.2k in 2's as priest/dk

and 2250 or so in 3's so duelist(hopefully) for me i guess as we stopped queueing(****ing wizzcleave bs). Just need more inactive teams above us!
