the wind in places was a bit rough going, but otherwise a great race!

That is awesome!!! Did your SS have a bell on it? Drove past a guy on an SS while going up Wineberg hill and the dude was ringing it like crazy.
 
I did a 6:30 ish starting at about 9:30, much better than last year.

It was a lovely day, a bit hot but the wind was only really an issue on the big downhills, caused major issues getting up to speed.

Need to try harder to seed next year, I can go fast enough to do under 5 hours but can't maintain it in the heat.
 
I was G seeded like last year so I started before 7am. That really does make a big difference. If you want to improve your seeding do as much rides as possible, especially PPA ones.

Joined PPA but never did the races....Will get off my arse this year. 6+ hours on a bike is not fun.
 
Depends where you are riding, when I did the TransKaroo 240K MTB last year I spent 14+ hours on the bike and it was awesome. Being surrounded by the vast open Karoo, alone on your bike, it is a unique experience.

In three weeks time I will be doing my second TransKaroo but this time it will be faster since we are riding down from Sutherland to Ceres. I am hoping for about 10 hours.
 
It was my first one and came in just under 6 hours. Started at 09h50:wtf: People had finished before I started.
