BF3 does this all already.

I think if you look at things a little harder you will see how different they are from each other. They appeal to different mindsets - granted this iteration has polished the movement to be more FPS like, but what you are dealing with here is more simulation than action movie - hence the multitudes of different stances and movements speeds, Real world ballistics that are affected by wind and gravity, 20 square kilometer satellite map of the small island ( the terrain at launch will be 270 km2) A fully functioning mission editor with scripting abilites that enable you to make whatever the hell you want - AND an encouragement and fostering of one of the most active modding communities present in gaming. Mods which have the ability to create whole new game forms. When last did you see that happen in battlefield?

Ya, and BF3 allows you to also shoot someone in the back with 30 AR rounds and have them turn around and kill you with one shot from their sidearm. :p

Worlds apart, literally.

Saying literally means that the one game is played on earth and the other is played on say mars or some other world... is what I think he was mock charging about.

Oh...ok. Well the reason I used that word was because I was trying to emphasize the difference between one aspect alone of the two games (excuse me, game and sim) respectively - the size of the game "worlds". You have practically every FPS game in existence where the map is bounded by some form of perimeter (often not far from the active playing field) and then Arma's system whereby the world is seemingly endless or at least much, much larger - like Pluto-vs.-Aldebaran larger. I thought the first vid highlighted it pretty well but apparently not. :D *slaps GDI with a wet trout*

TL;DR version - one is a shoebox and the other is almost an actual world. Therefore, worlds apart - literally.

Arma is great if you enjoy slow paced games and I mean sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.
I personally cant do it but I know people that are very into it.

I agree... I'll admit I've never played Arma, but I have sunk hundreds of hours into DayZ.

It can be, all depends on what you want from it. The thing about Arma is that it is a sandbox with incrediably powerful modding tools.
What you are refering to when you talk about slow gameplay is the more milsim based missions.
If you want faster paced action then Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch is there

Which is set in a localized portion of whatever map or island you want. Fast respawn and all that.

Then you get Project Reality which is a mod for Arma 2 (and Battlefield I believe) That creates a base building aspect and makes it more battlefieldish

Should be ported over to Arma 3 quick quick

Or missions like Blitzkrieg which are capture and hold with respawn -http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147635-Blitzkrieg-for-A3-(PvP-Game-Mode)-(based-on-AAS)

See the thing about arma is that it is a sandbox. Most thing you want can be done in it - there are even servers that host only rally racing - so races in Arma vehicles through checkpoints.

If one aspect is slow paced then you play deathmatch or one of the massive amounts of user created missions and modes.
What Bohemia have done that is amazing is put the power in the users hands instead of worrying about making money from DLC.

It is lank easy to jump in the editor and make a mission that plays the way you want it to.
Want to make a deathmatch in this village here with respawn? 20 minutes and the editor and its done
Change weather/ time of day/ wind strength? Bam, couple of seconds and a slider or two later and your deathmatch is in a duststorm at dawn

wow this looks epic! never really got a chance to play arma2 as I could never afford to buy the game but have always wanted to play it, now with arma3 will definitely look into getting it:)

cannot wait to try this!
