When you compare it to Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, ArmA 2 is crud!

OF: DR is fun, ARMA 2 is just complicated and drawn out.

Fighting a war is not suppose to be a fun. Arma 2 is a great sim if you into this kind of games. If you like arcade shooter go for OFP: DR.
