Too little too late. The government did not want them there at the time the riots occurred.

Just imagine if they were deployed over the course of last weekend. It would perhaps not even have been necessary for thousands, tens of thousands of citizens to arm up, activate emergency plans, form military groups and protecting their own properties.

The failure to deploy in time has cost the country a lot.

But I agree, there are many tired citizens who have been fighting and guarding the past week. For all of them military deployment would be welcome.

Probably due to the fact they would try and take on the tanks, molly them or break them as much as possible. Should they have to use any force even a shotgun rubber round fired from a tank would kill people. The country seems to be out of tear gas so I doubt they can use that type of tank ammo too. Would have been nice to see them instantly deployed though, but who knows.

Their failure to deploy in time saw many thousands of citizens fighting off attackers. It saw taxi associations intervene, arm up and do the job they should have been doing from the start.

This is a ****up and nothing less.

Whereas the Casspir would be the ideal vehicle for dealing with rioters and looters.

Apart from that, somewhat useless, it's that shock+awe tactic (that didn't work for the USA) being used on criminals that will now try to steal the wheels and anything else they can get their thieving hands on. Jacking up a Rooikat armoured car is a bit of a hassle when trying to steal the wheels...

Ratels with mounted 7.62mm Brownings would have worked better than Rooikats.
 
Most Ratels sold to Middle East, money vanished as always.
 
Not all armoured vehicles are tanks, a big clue would be, does it have tracks? If not it's not a, tank. Those are Rooikats which is a Scout Vehicle. Olifants would've wrecked the roads
