Army to be deployed at the borders again?

Agree with Pitbull... Nothing like 2 years conscription to actually teach people respect and instill some real core values, and really useful life skills

"They still break those people down and rebuild them. " all lies they use propaganda/spartan society(Google it) tactics not to rebuild them, they brain wash them to serve their masters.

I'll take it that you never served in the army. Your assumptions are astounding

values that who made?

The woman of the world. All men should be forced to make the bed, iron, shine shoes and so on and so on. Every boy should learn dissipline.

I have dated on both sides of this and let me tell you they just aint men if the did not do the two years.

The biggest thing about the army is the fact that they take 18yo kids who think they know everything and everyone should listen to them as they are now adults and superious to the rest and turn them into useless characters. Then rebuild this self righteous bastard into a decent honorable man :)

Seriously SA needs more of these respect full people. The army teaches a young man about morals and code. It also enforces enrichment and selfworth. Seriously, there is nothing bad about the army if it's done correctly.

a 75mile high fence?

Sheesh, why didn't we trumpet that achievement to the rest of the world.. nobody else can build a fence that high.

If this is true I do believe it may be a good thing? Let's face it, what is our Army there to do? Protect the Sovereignty of South Africa which includes our borders. The Police have more of a friendly face and could be used at the border check posts, but simple patrols should be carried out by the army. What if there are certain elements smuggling in weapons or drugs into South Africa to support a different agenda I am not aware of but for all we know could exist.

While what is happening is more a case of human tragedy where poor people with sort of refugee status are migrating down into South Africa from up north this can be deemed a good and noble gesture to help your neighbours, I do think that these refugees need to take responsibility for their own lives in the sense that they should not be coming here to simply sponge off our resources, but to give input into the economy. Furthermore these refugees need to understand that they are also needed in their home country to rebuild it, much like Zimbabwe which has far better agricultural land than South Africa and enormous mineral wealth as well and just needs certain pig headed politicians to retire out of office to allow the next generation to prosper free of fear of their own Government and things could look a lot better for all of us including the people of Zimbabwe.

I think we can do with some patriotism. And a country’s army is where you can see that the most. Who is the most?
Hell you can say a lot about the yanks but they sure are a bunch of proud people.

No offence Pitbull, but are the SANDF not made of the same (flawed and corrupt) flesh and blood as the SAPS members? Why on earth do people assume that the army will do 'a better job'?

. Police are stationed Permanently
. Police are understaffed
. Police don't have the resources to patrol our border to the fullest.

The Soldiers will not be stationed permanently and will be rotated. They have the vehicles, soldiers and resources to do the job correctly. Also, the Army is a fearless group. Just having them on the border will assure the bastards won’t take chances.

Remember the Army does not follow social law like the police. They are a law system in their own. They will give the crocs some midnight snacks to chew on. ;)
