Article: 20 years to implement police IT system: report

It will take more than 1 year to roll out to 1000 sites, most of which probably don't have the infrastructure to support the system.

But 20 years is ridiculous.

Should have rolled out by region, starting with a relatively small region to iron out the last kinks, and train up people. So depending on how stable, that might take a few months. Then you ramp up the rollout.

Should have taken a year for the these 79, then possibly 2 to 4 years for the rest.

10 Groups of installation technicians, thats 100 sites to install at and 10 installation teams are not a lot, at all.

While the installation teams are training, the sites that do not have the infrastructure can have them installed in the mean time, even install at the sites that have the required equipment while the others are being brought up to speed. They dont have to wait for all the sites to be ready at the same time to install equipment and train staff...

I would say 1 year if planned and executed correctly, 20 years is a joke, sounds like an ANC "vote for us" campaign. "Vote for us for the next 20 years because we are making e-dockets" ...lol

and just a little note to the SAPS and South African Government. After 20 years, the equipment and application that you are trying to roll out will be useless/obsolete. So who ever thought of this.. is an idiot.
