If something is not a resounding success, it does not mean it's a failure. It worked to a degree.
Nobody gives an alternative so this is the way it has to be.
Business was given ample opportunity to address imbalances, but failed to do so. The only thing a government can do is to regulate and legislate.

How can you expect business to higher more people of colour when the school system is so ****ed?
 
There should have been a 25 year sunset clause in the BEE / AA regulations, this was a major failure during the negotiations.
 
Probably want a cut of all white salaries next. (above the usual tax)
 
Positive discrimination? What a ****ing oxymoron from a moron. I wonder what the idiots in charge would say if companies said "We're going to apply positive discrimination against EE?"
 
BEE and AA is a vicious cycle, by alienating whites you are disadvantaging them, once all the blacks are in a satisfactory economic position the whites will then be the previously disadvantaged race, basically employ and promote people based on their qualities, not on their appearance, however this can only start when all races are highly educated, something the ANC tends to forget. Schooling, affordable tertiary education, and tolerance is the key
 
I admit. AA has failed. The ANC should have concentrated their efforts in increasing the wealth of the country instead of dividing what the whites have. If you take 5 million reach people and divide their riches among 50 million poor, you'll end up with 55 million poor. Even if no one steals a cent. It is a rather logical conclusion. SA's economic growth rate for the past 20 years, has averaged around 5%, while the year on year inflation has also been around 5%. If the population should have remained the same, like in most European countries has, then South Africa should have at least stagnated overall. The sad fact is, the population has almost doubled over the last 20 years :(

Education should have been their priority all along.
 
Whether it has failed or not, here or abroad, it really does not matter. AA and BEE are concepts the government drastically needs to continue its corruption and rewarding those close to them. They cannot afford to see AA and BEE go, nor can they afford to make these available to all black South Africans. So, they are here to stay and will never, ever go away.
