Article: "Aim for the head" does not mean kill: Cele

The statement "aim for the head" did not mean police officers were expected to kill criminals, suspended national police commissioner Bheki Cele told the High Court in Johannesburg, according to a report on Friday.

Cele, who was in court on Thursday, is suing The Sowetan for defamation, the newspaper said on Friday.

In blanket situations, blanket remedies should be followed with pragmatic principles.

If a cop pulls out a gun it should be with the intent to either exercise the threat of force or to kill the mofo. Of course prescribed field standards should be followed.

Yeah... He knows their aim is so Kark ..

Or the criminals Have no brainzzz so it would not kill them..

Or we all know that was not the head he was referring to..

Stick to ANC basics. It was taken out of context.

F em aim for the head.

Better dead than alive, less paper work, less mouths to feed and one less criminal.

I cannot see the downside.

Cele is a real ignoramus ..first of in a combat situation you shoot for the biggest part torso ...and if you aim for the head you are most likely to miss .but if you happen to aim for the head and are on target IMO 90% fatality

Just a minor consideration - namely the law.

Apart from that, officers are taught to aim for the torso, since it's a bigger target.

Yawn.

What is your point? SAPS officers are very competent marksmen. Yes there are those who are unfortunate and become victims but overall their aim is good.

If you follow up on the news, in most shootouts in South Africa, the police always prevail with limited and/or no casualties.Your bitterness against ANC won't get you anything in life but misery.

A competent marksman knows when and where to shoot. We read about these mishaps all the time.

IIRC we counted 23 shell casings outside our house and 7 holes in the BMW and 1 hole in a perp. Admitedly it is difficult to judge holes a radiator.

From my own experience being on a shooting range with SAPS colleagues - most of them are not very good. Maintaining a level of adequacy takes more than an annual trip to the range.

Uhm .. if 'aim for the head' does not mean kill them, then what the bloody hell does it mean? Aim for the head but shoot him in the leg instead?
I'm all for taking out the trash, but its obvious Cele is talking out his arse again.
Worse is they let him get away with such a blatant lie in high court!

This kind of hesitation is what results in innocent people getting killed. What a Dummy.

If you want to blow their brains out, shoot them in the arse.
