Article: BBBEE Act Amendment Bill slated

The Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act Amendment Bill is "a step in the wrong direction", Afriforum said on Wednesday.

Its lawyers were studying the proposed amendments and the organisation would be submitting comments, Afriforum deputy director Ernst Roets said.

In 1994 it was the begining of the end and this is just part of the process.

Clearly Mr Roets is not too clued up on the Bill. Has he ever heard of the skills development element in BBBEE?

"There is a lack of emphasis on education and training, which would address inequalities," he said.

Actually, it was a real beginning for some. And please not I'm not condoning what the ruling party is doing.

BBBEE has some good elements: Skills development, Socio-Economic Development and Enterprise development.
If its done right it could be benificial, if its done wrong it will be devastating.

So what's the correct way to discriminate based on race then?

Not to mention the fact that "African" isn't a race of course.

Of course it was, the Tenderpreneurs are making a killing. Theyre producing crap, paying bribes and robbing the man on the street but at least they got their good start from BEE right?

There is no "right" way to correct the problems created by apartheid simply because the problems weren't created in a "right" way. How do you get your wallet back if someone stole it and it legally became their property? Either you let it be or you steal it back. In both instances its stealing based on creating laws just like the apartheid government made laws to "remove" from land etc etc

Its crazy but its a pot calling the kettle black situation.

Also people asking when it will stop think about this, for as long as the apartheid government was in place they oppressed certain groups. For as long as those groups stay in power now they will dish out revenge. Why shouldn't they, they're human after all.

It sounds insane but its true

That all said, the foundation of BBBEE isn't revenge(or isn't suppose to be)... its an attempt to relieve poverty in groups that got f##ked by the NP

Nice post Vegeta :)
And as I'm sure we can all agree, there are certain corrupt elements on the gravy train seeking maximum personal benefit for them and their comrades?
