Article: BEE not working: Phosa

Black economic empowerment (BEE) is not helping to reduce poverty and inequality, ANC treasurer general Mathews Phosa said on Thursday.

"Marikana taught us that... our [BEE] model is dysfunctional, and that we need to be creative when old order models of negotiation are discarded by the disenfranchised," Phosa said in a speech prepared for delivery in Johannesburg.
 
Thank the ANC for that. Reducing the economic brains in the country to nothing and expect things to work will never create progress. Natural progression would have put us so much further ahead without the strife and the current hatred that fermented. Alas now its too late!
 
but BEE is working brilliantly for ANC comrades?
 
This country simply cannot afford more social engineering, it needs to increase productivity by making use of all resources with immediate effect or it will pass its sell by date.

Does this mean the speech was not delivered ? Why would they phrase it like that ?
 
BEE is a good policy, the implementation of it though has been disastrous. Phosa is just trying to score political points.
 
You always hear someone says something legit (example BEE not working)... but nothing ever happens. Just lip service all the way..

BEE is not the problem, and tweaking it will not make it better.
Education is the problem, and reason BEE is not working.
 
Wow, a first thought outspoken against BEE :D 26/10/2012. Now attention can start being given to it wahoooooooooooooo! Jobs and opportunities for everyone in 10 years. If our big tortoise president changes! Anyone can do better.

I hope that a Xhosa president comes in next!
 
BEE was never meant to reduce poverty and inequality. The goal was always to enrich people like Phosa and it has succesfully achieved the objective. Companies are now forced to account for the selfishness of politicians.
