Article: Bizarre media briefing

Journalists were forced to take off their shoes, and get down on their knees before Venda traditional leaders at a media briefing in Johannesburg on Sunday.

The bizarre briefing was over a report by the Sowetan newspaper last week that SABC chief operations officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng had been given a wife as a gift.

If I was a journalist I would have packed up and left.

Nobody should kneel for some tinpot 'traditional leader'.

Ffs, nobody even kneels for the president !

Same here...wtf

Just shows you, where the morals of journalists are.

Oh... and by the way... whose fault is it that the media got it wrong, when they were just going on what they could see?
Why did nobody translate and explain the customs to the media at the original event... it was for the benefit of a freaking broadcaster after all!
Why not have the Media Briefing then, instead of now.... several weeks later?

The Media were lucky they wernt put in a pot and cooked.

I would have told said traditional leaders to go and do something very unpleasant to themselves.

Great stuff, finally some journos get a well-deserved comeupance. Love it! Lol!

Notice how the article writer is incapable of saying "women" or "girls" without mentioning that they were bare-breasted. Methinks s/he is a tad bit fixated

Foreigner. You ever seen how a European tourist reacts when he sees a group of traditional dancers? They go completely ape****.
Once in Musina I had to pull a German guy out of the way of a car - he was so intent on taking photos of a group of local dancers - he was almost run over..

Ok so now why wouldn't people believe the kings dish out wives if they can do this to other people?
