Article: Corporal punishment school closed

A private school in Mpumalanga has been ordered to close its doors because it conducts corporal punishment, the City Press reported on Sunday.

The province's department of education said it would withdraw the registration of Cefups Academy, near Mbombela, because its investigation had found that staff at the school practise corporal punishment.
 
I was at school with corporal punishment. It sucked so much, but we never ever got more than 6 of the best, and always with a can never a sjambok. Really who the **** beats a girl like that? 40 lashes? In my days the girls never got hidings. Only the boys. These people must be held up for child abuse.

Yes, it's bad.

The only corporal punishment IMO that children should get is the same thing that a parent would administer to his/her own child.

Nothing more.

And if legislation would allow parents to do teachers a favour and come and control their own kids at school, it would do us as teachers a huge favour.

Because contrary to popular belief, teachers don't want to touch kids to discipline them. It's the bloody last thing I would want to do.

Sometimes I want to put my boot on their behinds ... but that's about it.

October - nobody has yet been arrested.

WTF is wrong with the law these days ?!
