And it's a fallacy to believe that downloading mp3's is a victimless crime. The artist who made the mp3 loses money.

Both are a form of corruption.

Trying to justify your corruption by convincing yourself it doesnt do any harm.

Did you watch Cribs? :p Most of the MP3s I've downloaded, I wouldn't have bought the CD anyway because the rest of the tracks are crap. So no, the artist has lost nothing.

Also, generalisation much? The fact that I downloaded an mp3 doesn't make me any more likely to commit any other crime.
 
More talk and no action from a cANCer politician.

I had some respect for Gordhan when he was in control of SARS. Nowadays he is like the rest of the cANCer politicians.

You are a hypocrit. You should be applauding the ANC for taking your corruption to new levels. They will get away with it as well.

you said you downloaded mp3's without paying for them. how is that different from taking a packet of chips from a supermarket without paying for it ? how do you think your defence "i wouldnt pay for them anyway" will go down ?

Because the supermarket cannot sell the chips I have taken and thus take a loss.
I have not removed anything from anyone's possession.

Perhaps you need to look up the definition of corruption too. Can you see a dictionary from your high horse?

Unfortunately I sort of understand the point you are trying to make, but you are comparing two completely different things! 1 is a tangible objects, if I take it, no-one else can... The other is intangible, and a COPY, if I take a copy, which in the 1st place I most likely would have never purchased, the original is still alive and can be sold. You can argue the author lost the money, but then I can say I most likely wouldn't have purchased it! I can also argue that downloading many unknown things, things not advertised, things that would likely never be sold here gives the artist greater exposure. You may not believe me but there are things that I used to pirate which I have now purchased because they add value and I use them, I certainly won't buy the CDs I've downlaoded(not at this stage of my life) because I don't use them. If I enjoyed an album I may actually go out and buy it, but ALL of my music forfullment comes to me via, radio, TV, clubs.

Most of the piracy you speak of is due to a failing business plan, which still year after year rakes in billions of dollars.
 
My point is that there are shades of grey. And stealing an mp3 is not corrupt.
