Article: David Bullard vows to appeal ruling

Writer David Bullard vowed on Wednesday to appeal a ruling in favour of the Sunday Times, which fired him for an allegedly racist column four years ago.

"The judgment is nonsense," Bullard said in a telephonic interview.

I remember this, why on earth is he only appealing now?

This David Bullard! Didn't he apologise for writing the racist and then go on to grovel at Jacob Zuma's feet before going around the back to kiss JZ's ass and grovel some more. He must just join the SA Olympic team. I'm sure they can do with his flip flopping skills.

Read the article man:

Bullard was responding to a ruling by a statutory council in favour of Avusa Media, which rejected his argument that he was an Avusa employee at the time of his dismissal.

The statutory council found that he was independent contractor for Avusa.

Avusa editor-in-chief Mondli Makhanya declined to comment on the judgment.

Bullard said he would now take the matter to the Labour Court, which last year referred his case to the statutory council.

He has been tied up in that insanity while they decided which bloody court was supposed to hear the case. LOL.

While it is cool that the dude is saying he is going to give whatever he gets from this to charity the article that got him fired was still filled with insane generalisations along the lines of race. He may or may not be a racist but I recall him coming across as pretty racist in his writing.

porch - fair enough. I had read the article, but not in my wildest dreams did I imagine it has TAKEN 5 YEARS to get that judgment.

Well, good for him then, I used to love his column.

Yea I agree 5 years is an insane amount of time just to figure out which court his appeal needs to be heard in. That council is either extremely busy or extremely lazy.

The particular article is a sad situation because other than that he is an awesome writer. I too used to like his column.

Isn’t this the dude who got shot in the stomach and his family threatened in a ‘home invasion’? I’m sure many would ‘flip-flop’ if intimidated like that. I don’t blame him. Family makes you vulnerable.

This makes you sound like a terminator. :D

Well it’s true. No matter how ‘deathwishy’, outraged or prepared to take risks you may be, your family is your soft spot and threats against them can force you into accommodations you (personally) would never make.

LOL I know what you meant it was just your choice of words.
